Switch Your Brooklyn Plumbing Fixtures to More Efficient Options

Jun 10, 2016 | Plumbing Advice

Water conservation is a hot topic right now, and even though we do not live in an area where there is an extreme drought at this moment, it is always good to learn to be more efficient. Not only is it good for the planet, but it will save money on your water bill. When you have a plumber change out your Brooklyn plumbing fixtures with some of these more efficient models, you’ll be able to cut back on water usage without even thinking about it.

Efficient Brooklyn Plumbing Fixtures Save Water

Water saving toilets. If your throne is over 20 years old, then it is probably using over 2 gallons per flush. New, high-efficiency models use just 1.28 gallons to wash waste away. A dual-flush model has separate buttons for liquid or solid waste and saves even more water.

Ultra low-flow shower heads. You do not have to sacrifice water pressure with the newest models. These shower heads are designed to give you the water pressure you want, while using less than 2 gallons per minute. For those who are wondering, yes those large, dinner-plate-sized shower heads and massage panels do use a lot of water, sometimes as much as 20 gallons per minute.

High-Efficiency Faucets. Most faucets in use today use about 2.5 gallons per minute, but newer models reduce that to about 1.5 gallons per minute.

Upgrade your water heater. A re-circulating hot water system will limit the amount of water going down the drain while you are waiting for the water to heat up. Or install a tankless water heater to save money on energy too, as it only heats when water is needed, instead of keeping it hot all the time.

If your water bill is high, or you would just like to do your part to conserve water, consider some of these changes to your Brooklyn plumbing fixtures. For more information about more efficient plumbing choices, contact Aladdin Plumbing.
